Best Villas in Santorini

The best villas in Santorini are usually in Fira, in Imerovigli, in Oia or even in Firostefani towns, but there are some more scattered all over the island. Obviously, if you want to have an infinity private pool overlooking the famous sunsets all by yourself, then you are going to have to pay for a premium price, but some of them can actually be a great option for larger groups or large families!

Yes, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that these places cost quite a lot of money (like the villas in Mykonos). However, I do happen to know some of the owners and I have visited some of them personally (off-season, though, because in the high season, these places are almost always sold out).

And I’ve always been stunned… Not only because these villas in Santorini offer the amazing famous volcano views and some of the most amazing infinity pools in Santorini but mainly because of how well the owners are taking care of these places and how much attention to the details they are actually paying.

How can you actually rent a private villa in Santorini?

This is not the 90’s. So…you will rent them online ! ! Pretty much all the villas of the island can either be booked online on Booking.com  or on Airbnb. To be honest with you, for the same villa, you will probably pay less on Booking.com than Airbnb because you are not paying any additional fees (yes…you will probably pay more on Airbnb and you won’t have free cancellation as you almost always have on Booking). And I personally prefer Booking.com as the reviews on the site are really helpful to make a decision (and they are 100% real from people who have actually stayed at those hotels).

Where Are The Best Villas in Santorini located?

There are private villas literally everywhere in Santorini. All over the island. The most impressive ones are probably those with the famous views in Oia, Firostefani and Imerovigli but I’ve seen some newly built ones that are a-m-a-z-i-n-g, and they are located either close to Pyrgos or by the beach at Kamari (remember for Santorini: close to the beach=no famous views)

What Do I Get With A Villa in Santorini?

The truth is that it really depends. There are many 1 bedroom mini-villas with private swimming pools that are basically part of a larger “hotel” complex and they are more like…private suites to be honest, rather than villas. There are many places like this, and the good thing is that they have all the benefits of staying in a more private place (like a villa) but also have lots of the facilities and services that you would expect from a luxurious hotel. So you really win if you find a place like this. But you have to bear in mind that everything in Santorini is at a smaller scale than you are probably imagining. Everything is smaller because it’s the traditional architecture of the island that stipulates that. So, don’t expect humongous mansions and 10000000 sq. ft. castles. You are going to get an amazing villa with the most stunning views you’ve ever seen in your life. Do not complain if you don’t find 3 kitchens and 6 bathrooms (even though you might be paying a price for such a place… ???? )

1. Santorini Sky (Pyrgos)

This is one of the most well-designed and modern villas in Santorini but it’s not located in one of the most famous and more sought-after places like Oia or Imerovigli. In fact, it is located in Pyrgos, which is very close to all the wineries but it’s so high up on a hill that offers some incredible uninterrupted sunset views. It also has some of the most stunning infinity private swimming pools on the island.

2. Anemi House (Oia)

The villa is located at an amazing location in Oia, and you will basically have the famous sunset on your terrace every afternoon… Dimitris (the owner) will do his best to make sure you have a great stay.

3. Calliope House (Pyrgos)

This is one of the best villas/apartments in Pyrgos. Anna Maria the owner, is fantastic and the place is very beautifully decorated. In Pyrgos you will get some different and more unique views of the island (but equally beautiful).

4. Deep In Cave Suites (Fira)

One of the best brand-new cave villas in Fira. If you are looking one of the most unique places to sleep in Santorini, then this cave villa is the absolute bet place.

The villa is in Oia but in a much more private location so don’t expect hundreds of tourists on your roof… The place has amazing 360 degrees sea and famous sunset views and the whole place is one of the most spacious in Oia.

6. Eolia Kamari Villa (Kamari)

Is it good for me? Hands down this is the best beach private villa of the island. You will not be getting the famous Santorini views (like in Oia, Fira, Firostefani, and Imerovigli) but you will be getting an amazing villa with all the amenities in 5 minutes walking distance from the famous Kamari black beach and the tens of restaurants, cafes and beach bars of the area. This is one of the best family villas in Santorini.

This is another amazing villa in Pyrgos with distinctive architecture and typical cycladic interior and exterior design. This is your place if you want amazing views (but not the famous ones), a lovely terrace/pool and being close to one of the cutest villages of the island (aka Pyrgos).

Is it good for me? The villa is not very close to any major town but it is at a really unique location (not on teh famous cliffs or the caldera/volcano). Yes, you may feel a bit isolated but we are only talking about 10-15 mins drive from the capital Fira. This place is really amazing and it’s possibly the best spot for relaxing. You will have a beach, a pool and an amazing terrace by yourself!

11. Beautiful Oia Villa (Oia)

The villa is possibly on the best location in Oia (with views to the famous sunset) and it is one of the most spacious in Oia (possibly the biggest villa in Oia). You are not getting a swimming pool or hot tub but you are going to have one of the most amazing views of the island from your balcony and an amazing terrace.

Is it good for me? The villa is at one of the most unique spots in Oia if you want to have the famous sunset on your balcony every evening. The owner is also very helpful!

Another new villa in Akrotiri with amazing volcano and caldera views but away from all the buzz of Fira and Oia. So…you need a car if you live there as there is nothing in walking distance. Is it good for me? The villa is not located in Oia but on the same cliff between Fira and Oia (a a bit closer to Oia). This place is brand new and it is a cutie pie! You do need a car though if you are planning to stay there.

Is it good for me? The villa is not located on the famous cliffs but it is an awesome place to stay as long as you also rent a car to move around. It’s only 10 mins drive from Fira and about 35 mins from Oia. The pool is also heated and the views are great. Ideal for relaxing! The owner is also very friendly and kind.

Is it good for me? This is one of a kind as its architecture is extremely unique to the whole island. Great location for the famous sunsets and literally walking distance of the amazing restaurants of Oia.
