The Best Hotels in Thessaloniki are mainly located close to the centre of Greece’s second largest city and usually close to the seaside. Greeks call Thessaloniki the country’s co-capital; it’s a lively city with thousands of years of history and probably the best food in Greece. In the last decades, the city has developed some incredibly well-designed and chic hotels, which are on my list below.

Thessaloniki is the capital of Macedonia and the second-largest city in Greece, with many things to see and do. The city has some of the most incredible urban hotels in the country, and I dare to say that some of them are even better than the ones you can find in Athens. With its international airport, Thessaloniki can also be your base to explore the wonderful area of Halkidiki and its famous resort areas, such as Kassandra or Sithonia.

Thessaloniki is quite far from Athens, up in the north of Greece, but it’s very well connected by bus or a 1-hour direct flight. You can also fly to Thessaloniki from almost every European City, such as London, Berlin, Paris, Hamburg, Barcelona, or even Madrid and Rome.

International flights to Thessaloniki are available throughout the year, as it’s not a seasonal destination but a hub for the Balkans (always check Booking.com Flights for the most up-to-date flights to Greek destinations). You do not need a car in Thessaloniki. The city has excellent transportation, with hundreds of local buses that can take you anywhere (a metro system is about to open soon).

I highly recommend you use public transportation and even walk to explore the city in the best way possible. You can always call one of the thousands of taxis in the city from anywhere, and the Uber or FREENOW apps are fully functional in Thessaloniki.
